Última actualización: 9 de octubre de 2026.

DICOM Conformance Statement

Last updated: October 9, 2026.

1. Introduction

NUBIX is a cloud RIS/PACS platform by Theia, S.A.P.I. de C.V. Studies reach the platform through a local agent, NUBIX OS, installed in the customer’s network: it receives studies sent by modalities, provides the worklist and transmits studies to the cloud. This statement describes the DICOM capabilities of the two current agent versions and of the NUBIX web viewer:

  • NUBIX OS 2: desktop application for macOS, Windows and Linux, built on DCMTK.
  • NUBIX OS 1.5: dedicated device (Raspberry Pi) with dcm4che-based DICOM reception and DCMTK-based worklist.

2. Network services

ServiceUIDRole
Verification (C-ECHO)1.2.840.10008.1.1SCP
Storage SOP classes (C-STORE) — section 4—SCP
Modality Worklist Information Model – FIND1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.31SCP

NUBIX OS does not act as an SCU: it does not query or retrieve studies from other systems (Query/Retrieve) or forward them to other PACS. It does not implement Storage Commitment or Modality Performed Procedure Step (MPPS). NUBIX does not provide DICOMweb services (WADO-RS, STOW-RS, QIDO-RS).

3. AE Titles and ports

The AE Titles, IP address and ports of each installation are configured when NUBIX OS is installed and provided directly to the customer to set up the destinations on its modalities.

4. Storage (Storage SCP)

NUBIX OS accepts all standard DICOM storage SOP classes; NUBIX OS 2 also accepts private or non-standard classes. The most common include:

Comprehensive SR Storage1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.88.33

NUBIX OS 2 handles each association in a separate process, so several modalities can send at the same time.

5. Transfer syntaxes

On reception, NUBIX OS accepts the transfer syntax proposed by the modality, compressed or uncompressed, including:

Transfer syntaxUID
Implicit VR Little Endian1.2.840.10008.1.2
Explicit VR Little Endian1.2.840.10008.1.2.1
Deflated Explicit VR Little Endian1.2.840.10008.1.2.1.99

JPEG-LS Lossy (Near-Lossless)1.2.840.10008.1.2.4.81
JPEG 2000 (Lossless Only)1.2.840.10008.1.2.4.90
JPEG 20001.2.840.10008.1.2.4.91
RLE Lossless1.2.840.10008.1.2.5

It also accepts the video syntaxes (MPEG-2, H.264 and HEVC) supported by the installed DCMTK or dcm4che version.

Compression before upload (NUBIX OS 2). To send studies to the cloud, NUBIX OS 2 losslessly compresses (JPEG Lossless, 1.2.840.10008.1.2.4.70) studies received uncompressed, and converts studies received as JPEG-LS, RLE or JPEG 2000 to that same syntax. It does not modify studies already in JPEG, video or non-image objects (SR, PDF). On Windows and Linux, JPEG 2000 studies are sent as received.

6. Worklist (Modality Worklist SCP)

NUBIX OS periodically downloads the appointments scheduled in NUBIX and publishes them as a worklist. Modalities query it (C-FIND) to obtain patient and procedure data without typing it. Responses declare the ISO_IR 100 (Latin-1) character set, so accented characters reach the modality correctly. NUBIX OS 2 returns matching records even when the query includes attributes it does not recognize, and supports up to 50 simultaneous queries.

7. Character sets

On reception, studies are stored with the character set sent by the modality, without conversion. The worklist responds in ISO_IR 100.

8. NUBIX OS 2 behavior

  • NUBIX OS 2 is not an archive or a backup: once a study is transmitted to the platform, it is deleted from the local computer.
  • If a study cannot be transmitted, NUBIX OS 2 retries up to 12 times with increasing waits, for about six hours; after that, or immediately if the platform rejects it, it moves the study to a local quarantine folder for review and resending.
  • Optionally, NUBIX OS 2 can index an existing DICOM backup (disk, NAS or the clinic’s historical archive) to search for studies and send them to the platform.
  • NUBIX OS 2 is enabled with an encrypted, signed activation file issued for each computer.

9. Viewer

NUBIX includes a zero-install web DICOM viewer with: 2D display, window/level, zoom and pan, annotations, measurements, series comparison, multiplanar reconstruction (MPR), multi-frame series and display of DICOM image attributes such as patient position and orientation.

10. Security

DICOM exchange between modalities and NUBIX OS takes place within the customer’s local network and does not use TLS; when NUBIX OS 1.5 runs on a cloud server, modalities connect to it over a secure channel. From NUBIX OS to the platform, data travels encrypted over HTTPS, and it is stored encrypted in the cloud. NUBIX does not de-identify studies, but it can receive and store studies that are already de-identified. For more information, see our health information security (HIPAA) and privacy pages.
